The Lansing SDA Church is participating in mission work in Bombardopolis, Haiti through Orphans International Helpline (OIH). We are fund raising to build a model solar system at our church to train missionaries to install solar. This grid tied and battery system will also help power the air conditioning system at the church. The hospital at OIH will have similar air conditioners.
OIH supports 275 orphaned children through the work of an orphanage, school, church, and mission house. A badly needed hospital to serve the community is under construction. Lansing church members upgraded the solar power system on the mission house in December 2017. This is currently the only building with electricity. This small solar system is currently powering the construction of the hospital.
ADRA needs help installing solar systems in many places around the world.Through this project we hope to have a model system where missionaries can be trained in installing solar systems.
This 2018 spring semester an MSU capstone engineering team of 6 students designed a solar and wind power system for the OIH hospital in Haiti. The largest consumer of electricity at the hospital was the air-conditioning system. This project will demonstrate how an efficient air conditioning systems can be used in Haiti and other places around the world.
