The purpose of the social committee is to plan fun ways for church members to
socialize and get to know each other better. As you can imagine, that is tougher than
usual right now!
Our team got creative and found a way to connect with homebound members over the
holidays (see article here). We have some exciting events planned for 2021, so stay
tuned for details!

My name is Jessica Wehrmeyer and I am the head of the Social Committee for the
Lansing SDA Church. I am married to Paul, and we have a 16-year-old son, Carter.
I was born and raised in Holland, MI, and lived there until moving to Lansing 7 years
ago for my husband’s work. Those of you that know me, know this was a real test to my
faith. One of my favorite Bible verses is Matthew 6:26-34. If Jesus cares for the little
sparrows, imagine how much He cares for our needs! We need not worry, because HE
has it all taken care of.

As a fourth-generation Adventist I have been in the church since day one of my life. I
have been involved in several ministries over the years with a focus on our youth. I am
grateful for all the God-fearing people who have helped to shape me into who I am
today.

I work for the Michigan Conference in the Human Resources and Religious Liberty
Departments. In my spare time I LOVE projects. You name it, I have done it! Most of all
I enjoy woodworking and masonry. I take every moment possible to be outside, where
you can find me gardening or working on my koi pond. Our family loves a good
adventure and can be found traveling and exploring any chance we get.

I’m Rebecca (aka Becky) Smith. My husband (Michael), our 1-year-old son (Charlie) and I have been local to the Lansing area for about 7 years. Outside of baking and crafting in my spare time, I have been involved with church ministries for about 6 years, taking a year break from my church responsibilities while raising my son.  I am excited to be back involved with this awesome team the Lord has placed together.  My favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 10:13 because God will always have my back if I lean on Him!

Hi! I am Debra Gray. I came to the Lansing church 5 years ago after attending other
SDA churches and found a family here. I just moved to the Lansing area to be closer to the church, and look forward to using my new house as a place to gather with friends.
I work in the automotive industry in the fields of Quality and Engineering, and in the evening I work on finishing my master’s degree. My favorite Bible verses are Jeremiah 29:11-14, because they have given me hope whenever times have been hard.

Hello there, I’m April McCreary. I am an energetic, hit-the-ground-running kind of lady! I am a stay-at-home mom but I love to be involved in women’s ministry and the social committee. I have lots of little hobbies like canning, painting, gardening and making essential oil goods. I have 3 children—one is almost an adult and the other two are my littles. I also am a wife to a wonderful husband. I love to help others out, reflecting Christ by helping, doing, and giving—that’s how I show my love! I came back to Christ in December 2015 and I’ve been working for Him since. Sharing the Lord gives me the greatest purpose. My favorite Bible verses are Jeremiah 29:11 and Psalm 103:2.

I’m Ebony Redmond; husband is God. I have lived in Lansing for 20 years. I’ve been with the Lansing SDA Church for four years and I was baptized three years ago. Some of my hobbies include singing, painting and puzzles. I work for the Lansing School District.

My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 139:23-24 because for a long time I tried to find someone to love me the way I loved others. I found God, and He loves me just the way I love others, and even more! Now every day I ask Him these verses and I grow closer and closer to Him because He’s the greatest thing that ever happened to me.
